Japanese Main Dishes

Okay y'all, it was REALLY hard to pick which dishes to feature since there are so many to choose from! But after some deep thinking, we decided to choose three; tsukemen, dragon roll sushi, and my personal favorite, katsu curry. So let's jump right in!

Tsukemen

Also known as dip-ramen, it is exactly as the name implies; ramen noodles that are meant to be eaten after being dipped in a separate bowl of soup. The noodles could be served cold or at room temperature, while the soup is served hot. The soup also serves as a dipping sauce for the noodles as it is much more concentrated in flavor compared to standard broth. Anyways, enough rambling, the video below does a much better job of explaining! :p

So a little bit about the video, Mike Chen shares his experience of eating tsukemen at the Taishoken Ramen Shop. The video is fun, informative, and makes your mouth water as he goes into detail about how the food tastes. Also, there are some beautiful close up shots of the dish.

Dragon Roll Sushi
Look at it.
Look at how glorious that sushi roll is.
Alright, now time for some facts; a dragon roll is basically an inside out sushi roll where the rice and fish are wrapped outside the seaweed. There are many variations of the dragon roll, but believe me when I say that they're all delicious.
Okay, so you've seen how epic this dragon roll is, now you can learn how to make it!

In this video, Chef Davy Devaux shows you how to make this beautiful dragon roll. This guy an self taught, sushi enthusiast who makes easy to to follow tutorials. Also, his accent is very pleasant to listen to. Check out his Youtube channel for more sushi recipes!

Katsu Curry
As I have mentioned before, this dish is a personal favorite of mine and for good reason too. It involves tonkatsu, a deep fried pork cutlet served with curry and rice. Sounds so simple but LORD, it's amazing. Check out Tasty's video below to learn how to make your very own katsu curry!

If you haven't heard about Buzzfeed's Tasty videos by now then you're in for a treat. These videos show you how to cook delicious meals in about a minute or so. I have the recipe of this specific katsu curry memorized all thanks to this video. So please, give it a watch!
